Senior Service Technician - High-End & Suspension

Full time · Issaquah, WA · In-shop

Ride Bicycles is looking to add another senior technician to support our growing service department, which handles high-end mountain, gravel, and e-MTB work. Suspension is done in-house.

This role calls for a tech with proven senior-level shop experience who can produce quality work at pace. Join a team that values collaboration, respect, and shared responsibility. We invest in our people and in our service department so the whole team can perform at a high level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced service: drivetrain overhauls, hydraulic brake rebuilds and bleeds, wheel builds and truing, e-bike diagnostics and repairs, full suspension service at 50 and 200 hour intervals
  • Set up and troubleshoot electronic drivetrains (SRAM AXS, Shimano Di2)
  • Service and troubleshoot dropper posts (Reverb, Transfer, OneUp and similar)
  • Log all service work, keep clear notes, write accurate quotes, and follow up with riders on time
  • Collaborate with other senior techs to balance load and keep service moving
  • Maintain a clean, organized bench and a detail-first approach
  • Mentor and support other technicians by sharing knowledge and setting a professional example

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years in a professional bicycle service department at a senior mechanic level
  • Recent, consistent hands-on shop experience; not considering candidates who have been out of the industry or with long gaps in mechanic work history
  • Proven experience in advanced drivetrain service and hydraulic brake work, including overhauls and bleeds
  • Skilled in wheel building and truing. Able to hold tight lateral and radial tolerances, check and set proper dish, stress relieve correctly, and confirm even spoke tension with a tensiometer
  • Experience with suspension service is strongly preferred. Senior techs without full suspension background but motivated to train into it will still be considered
  • Experienced with e-bike systems (Bosch, Shimano STEPS, Brose or similar), including full diagnostics, firmware updates, troubleshooting, and component replacement
  • Able to work at pace while maintaining consistent quality control on every job, including torque verification and test ride checks where appropriate
  • Availability to cover at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) during the main riding season
  • Active mountain biker strongly preferred, as it helps with product knowledge and understanding customer needs
  • Must be able to reliably commute to our Issaquah, WA location. We are only considering local candidates at this time
  • Authorized to work in the United States. We do not offer visa sponsorship
  • Provide at least two professional references who can speak directly to your senior-level work in a shop environment

Compensation

$25 to $28 per hour DOE

Benefits

Paid sick leave and employee discounts on bikes, parts, and accessories

How to apply

This is a full-time, in-shop position. Email a resume and two professional references to jobs@ridebicycles.com. Add a short note, 5 to 8 sentences, about one advanced job you’re proud of: what came in, what you found, what you did, and how you QC’d it.

Answer these questions in your application

Answers must reflect your own hands-on experience. Be specific. Generic or vague answers will not be considered. Applications missing answers to these questions will not be considered.

  • Suspension: Describe your process for 50 hour and 200 hour fork and shock services. What do you inspect at each interval, what fluids are changed, and what parts are replaced. If you mostly work on FOX or RockShox, include the specific steps you take for those brands.
  • Drivetrain: On an 11 or 12 speed MTB, how do you check chain, cassette, and chainring wear. When do you recommend chain replacement only, chain plus cassette, or chain, cassette, and chainring together. In what cases would you also replace derailleur jockey wheels. How do you explain these choices to a rider so they understand the value of the work.
  • Wheel work: When building or truing a high-end MTB wheel, what lateral and radial tolerances do you aim for. How do you measure, bring the wheel into tension, stress relieve, and confirm even spoke tension. Which tools do you use to verify the result.
  • QC checklist: Before you sign off on a bike, what is your personal quality control checklist. What do you always test or double check before it leaves your bench.
